Mobile-phone carrier AT&T announced recently that it would soon add to its offering yet another interesting handset powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, namely the HP iPAQ Glisten. The new handset will become available for purchase with a full QWERTY keyboard and with a touchscreen display, which is 2.5-inch large, boasts a 320 x 240-pixel (QVGA) resolution and supports 65K colors, as well as with a 3.1-megapixel photo snapper with video-recording capabilities. The specification list of the new mobile phone also includes support for Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS/HSDPA Tri-band 850/1900/2100 MHz frequencies, as well as 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM, and a microSD memory card slot that allows users to include up to 32GB of additional storage space into the equation. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g with WPA2 security also comes in to complete the connectivity options of the new HP iPAC Glisten.

China Mobile officially announced the launch of Dell Mini 3i, a new touchscreen mobile phone that comes to the market with the operator's OPhone and Mobile Market platforms. The OPhone open source platform is packed with a wide range of entertainment features, including 139Mail e-mail, Fetion chat and digital maps for navigation, all of which are already pre-loaded on the device. Moreover, the new mobile phone boasts a 3.5-inch widescreen for an enhanced user experience, a series of personalization features, GPS navigation, a 3-megapixel photo snapper with auto-focus, flash and video recording capabilities. The specs list of Dell Mini 3i also includes a 640 x 360 pixel resolution for the display, Quad band GSM/EDGE capabilities, Bluetooth connectivity, Mini USB connector, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 23GB of additional storage space, all within a device that measures 58.35 x 122 x 11.7 mm and weighs 105g.

The device, exactly like the BenQ concept phone, has a full touchscreen surface with, I hope, a dynamic application menu that changes according with the current feature displayed on the screen. Other details aren't possible to guess from the three pictures released by the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer on its website, but, the images taken at the testing site suggest that we might have the occasion, in our lifetime, to have this kind of Sci-Fi gadgets in our hands.I just hope somebody up there, at the Nokia headquarters, still cares about the poor people that drool all over these pictures of touchscreen interface mobile phones and give a word to the production department to make us all happy!
